In this course, learners will explore personal identity and culture through mixed media artmaking, creative exploration, and mentorship. Students will experiment with a variety of materials and techniques while developing soft skills in critical thinking and self-expression. Projects may incorporate painting, sculpture, assemblage, portrait, poetry and more—each tailored to learner’s individual interests. During the course, learners connect with professionals artists and artists-in-residence at Abrons AIRspace residency through studio visits, workshops and artist talks. At the end of the course, learners will work together to curate original work to be displayed at Abrons’ annual spring art show.
