In this course, learn the fundamentals of hip hop dance and movement. Experience a variety of street dance techniques including breaking, locking, popping, and freestyle.
About Alicia Morales
Oakland-born and Brooklyn, Bronx, and Borinken-brewed, Alicia Raquel Morales is a dancer, choreographer, educator and cultural organizer rooted in social and club dance.
She has been an artist in residence at Dancing Futures, JACK, and Hi-ARTS (formerly Hip Hop Theater Fest), as well as a CulturePush Utopian Practice Fellow and a BAAD! Muse. Alicia has performed with Johnnie Cruise Mercer/The Red Project, PISO Fénix, André Zachary/Renegade Performance Group, the NWA Project, Typical Theater, and more. She has choreographed for artists including Coco Peila, Astro Andro, and the Brooklyn Follies, and has taught dance to youth and adults across Oakland and New York City at United Roots, Destiny Arts Center, Ailey Arts in Education, Vanderbilt Republic, and NYU Tisch.
Alicia believes in dance as a powerful medium for culture keeping, expansive imagining and freedom practice.
