Kekene XV – The Gathering 2021 – Kotchegna Is Back!

Vado Diomande launched Kekene – The Gathering in 2007 to celebrate his recovery from lethal natural anthrax. As a gathering of Ivory Coast diaspora master performers and Kotchegna Dance Company, Vado’s New York-based multi-ethnic corps, Kekene is an annual spectacle of joy, vibrancy, and expressive community.

This one-night-only event was created in collaboration with perennial host-with-the-most-pink-costumes TruDee (aka Deborah Lohse) and The DASH Academy co-directors Gregory Dolbashian and Lindsey Pettus.
