Emily Johnson and Karyn Recollet: Kinstillatory Mappings in Light and Dark Matter

Spring 2022 Abrons Education Recitals

Join Abrons Arts Center to celebrate a semester of art making by students aged 3 and up.

This year, students were back in person creating new works and advancing their abilities in music, dance, visual arts and more. To celebrate their achievements we will be hosting in person recitals to showcase their skills and talents.

Jerron Herman: VITRUVIAN

A solo performance by Jerron Herman, VITRUVIAN explores the ways natural phenomena and history enter and live in the body. Movement and visual design tell an allegorical tale of the life cycle of the Vitruvian man as he traverses several hemispheres.

District 1 Arts Festival

District 1 Arts Festival is coming to Abrons on May 17th! Join us to celebrate the creative display of 23 public schools ranging from K-12. Artwork will be on display at Abrons on all three floors plus our outdoor Amphitheater.

Friends, family, students, teachers and our Lower East Side community are invited to join us!

Perfect City: Avoidance Mapping Workshop

Avoidance Mapping is a workshop and roundtable conversation that makes visible our hidden skills at navigating the city. Perfect City leads Avoidance Mapping with students, community members in shelter, planners and architects. We are excited to bring the work home to Abrons this spring.

846 reimagines The Rite of Spring in our current day USA. Stravinsky’s 1913 score depicts rituals celebrating the advent of spring, after which a young girl is chosen as a sacrificial victim and dances herself to death.

Visions of Home

Visions of Home is a collaborative project between Smear Campaign and Bridges4Life that explores themes of safety, family, sex work and community through an immersive re-imagining of “Home.” This experience is created with members of the Black and Brown TGNC sex work community.
