[World Premiere] Ashley R.T. Yergens: prettygirl264264

View Program for prettygirl264264

prettygirl264264 is a premature funeral for critically unclaimed artist Ashley R.T. Yergens and an extremely loose re-imagination of the 2011 documentary, Becoming Chaz. The ceremony includes deleted behind-the-scenes footage of invented family and friends who routinely emerge as tropes in trans masculine lives.

The rights of transgender citizens are currently under attack!  Abrons Arts Center believes that artistic practice is key to a free and healthy society. In light of recent news about threats to federal protections for transgender and gender nonconforming people, we are proud to support the work of the Sylvia Rivera Law Project. Donate here and learn more about what you can do to support trans communities here.

Ashley R.T. Yergens is a byproduct of growing up on tater tots and WWE SmackDown. He’s a 2018-2019 Jerome Foundation AIRspace Resident at Abrons Arts Center, where his first evening-length performance prettygirl264264 will premiere in November 2018. Please text your favorite emoji combination to him at (507)412-1381.

prettygirl264264 is commissioned by Abrons Arts Center with support from the Jerome Foundation as part of Abrons’ Jerome Foundation AIRspace Residency for Performing Artists. Additional support is provided by generous grants from the Howard Gilman Foundation, the Mertz Gilmore Foundation, the Harkness Foundation for Dance, the Jerome Robbins Foundation, the Scherman Foundation, and other generous Henry Street Settlement funders. This program is also supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council. This season was also made possible by the New York State Council on the arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
