Airspace Open Studios

Visual artists-in-residence Tamar Ettun, Meredith James, Lee Maida, Park McArthur, Lee Vanderpool, and AIRspace curators-in-residence Jess Wilcox and Wendy Vogel open their studios to the public for an afternoon to discuss current projects and works in progress. Concurrent with the exhibition Brendan Fernandes: The Inverted Pyramid join the artist, curators Jess Wilcox and Wendy Vogel, and Joan Tisch Teaching Fellow Jennie Goldstein for a public talk on the historical underpinnings of the recent surge of dance and performance in museums. Reception and BBQ | 3 – 5pm
Sculpture Garden
We’ll be firing up the grill in the outdoor garden adjacent to the AIRspace studios. African and Caribbean dance beats provided by Fulbright Scholar and musician-in-residence Seth Paris and his group No $mall Money Brass Band. Free.

Meredith James: Delmar (Video by Meredith James, Play by Julia Jarcho)
Abrons Underground Theater
In the video “Delmar,” James positions a play by Julia Jarcho about two families living in a landlocked small town within a set built to mimic the extreme foreshadowing and warping of space in medieval panel paintings.
