Abrons Arts Center COVID-19 Safety Rules

Abrons Arts Center is committed to creating a space where we work together to ensure each others’ safety as an artistic community. Whether you are a teacher, student, performer, audience member, artist or visitor, you are part of our community. Abrons Arts Center has laid out the following set of rules by which everyone entering our building must abide to ensure the health and safety of all. These rules have been created in accordance with NYC’s safety mandates expected to go into effect on August 16, 2021

Thank you for working with us and following these rules. Failure to follow these rules will result in you being asked to leave the building.

These protocols may change at any time based on changes in legal requirements, changes in guidance from the CDC, city or state mandates, changes in the severity of the pandemic in our area, or other factors.  Abrons Arts Center will endeavor to give as much notice as possible about these changes, but please understand that these changes may not be entirely under the Center’s control and are subject to city, state, and federal regulations.

Current Rules for Everyone
(Updated Information and Policies as of October 8, 2021)

An acceptable face covering must be worn at all times by all people while inside the Center and must cover the face AND nose. This includes all children two years of age and older. Bandanas and neck gaiters are not effective in preventing the spread of COVID-19, and are not considered acceptable. Masks are available for free at the front desk for anyone who needs one.

All persons who are eligible to be vaccinated must show proof of COVID-19 vaccination in order to be onsite. This means that 14 days have passed since your final dose of an FDA or WHO-approved vaccine. Proof of Vaccination by all members of your party will be required in order to pick up tickets for any show at the arts center.

Valid forms of proof of vaccination include: Vaccination card, photo of vaccination card that clearly show your name and dates of vaccination with matching photo ID, the NYC COVID Safe app, or the NYS Excelsior Pass

Until September 13, If you are unable to get vaccinated for medical or religious reasons, you must provide proof of a negative PCR test administered within 72 hours of arrival to the Center.  After September 13, negative test results will no longer be accepted as an alternative to vaccination.

Vaccination Exemptions for Visitors: Those seeking exemption from our vaccination policy based on disability or medical reasons should send documentation to jharper@henrystreet.org for review at least TWO WEEKS in advance of their arrival to the Abrons Arts Center. We are not required to and therefore will not be accepting exemptions for religious reasons to the vaccination requirement of our COVID-19 safety policy.

Chaperoning Students
All students requiring supervision must be accompanied by a vaccinated chaperon for pick up and drop off from Abrons classes. In the event that a parent/guardian is unvaccinated and not permitted to enter the building, the student must be joined by another vaccinated adult for pick up and drop off, and all other activities in the Abrons Arts Center building. Abrons Arts Center staff is not responsible for chaperoning students from the lobby to classrooms.

Attestation and Contact Tracing
Everyone entering the building (including staff) must truthfully fill out our COVID-19 questionnaire before entering the building. This is located on-site at each point of entry and this test affirms that all entrants do not have and have not been exposed to COVID-19, to their knowledge, and provides their contact information for future contact tracing if necessary.

Refund Policy
Any patrons who are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or tests positive for COVID-19 can and will receive a full refund. Patrons can request a refund up until the event’s start time but not after the event has occurred. If any event is canceled due to shifting COVID-19 guidelines, all ticket holders will be refunded in full and given notice before the event’s start date.

Current Rules for Staff, Resident Artists, Visiting Artists and Companies

Masking Policies For Performers, Resident Artists, and Visual Artists
Performers may perform unmasked during rehearsals and performances only if the Company is in accordance with the above rules regarding vaccination. When not in rehearsal or performance activities that require unmasking, the Performers must be masked at all times when at the Center. All members of visiting companies must remain masked at all times.

Visual Artists must be masked at all times in their residency spaces and when they are at the Center.

Production,  Front of House Staff, and Administrative Staff
Production, Front of House Staff, and Administrative Staff must not take shifts at the Center without being able to show proof of vaccination.
