Drink + Draw

10/29/14

Attention introverts! Why make art alone? You can’t socialize alone, so collaborate, commune, and commiserate with artists in an informal atmosphere designed to synthesize creative minds and improve technique. Each session features a guest host who will curate the evening’s project and music. Bring your favorite libation.

Geometries of Intimacy

11/05/14 - 12/20/14

This exhibition presents work by Janelle and Lisa Iglesias, Florian Meisenberg, Brie Ruais, Kika Thorne, and Jonathan VanDyke that articulate the shape, contours, and texture of communion. These artists' works locate and measure proximities—both physical and conceptual—among bodies, and question current assumptions about pairings, alliances, fusions, and other co-existences.

Abrons Art Reading Group

11/12/14

Books are nominated by members who attend the meetings. Currently we are reading The Artist As Public Intellectual by Stephan Schmidt-Wulffen. Past selections include Ben Davis' 9.5 Thesis on Art and Class, David Joselit's After Art, Martha Rosler's Culture Class and Clair Bishop's Artificial Hells.
