Ilona Bito is a dance artist and educator living in Brooklyn. She holds a BA and MS Ed. from Sarah Lawrence College, where she completed her thesis on teaching dance in NYC schools in 2011. Since then she has taught at democratic schools and arts organizations including BAX, WMAAC, St. Nicks Alliance, and a toddler play school coop. She has performed with Kathy Westwater, the A.O.M.C, as an organizer of Occupy Dance, and her own work has been presented at Outpost, TAB, and Open Perform. Bito’s current solo process investigates influence, imagination, and improvisation in public spaces to uncover the radical social context of the dancing body.
