Baseera Khan grew up in Denton, Texas. Her family’s religious and ethnographic background of Bangalore India has greatly influenced her relationship to material and theoretical subjects. Her art making process mainly focuses around acts of storytelling which can manifest in different forms of presentation and mediums. Traveling and working within unfamiliar situations is important to her practice as well. In 2005 she completed a BFA in Drawing/Painting and Sociology at The University of North Texas and in 2012 she received an MFA from Cornell University’s School of College of Architecture, Art and Planning. She has also completed the 2014 Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture program. She lives and works in her studio in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, NY.
